Based on the data sets provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, I created an infographic to highlight high-risk factors among youth in the United States, including a significant increase in suicidal ideation and behavior among high school students over the past decade. My analysis reveals disparities in suicide risk among different demographic groups, with the greatest increase in making a suicide plan among white and female youth, while black youth have the greatest increase in attempting the most serious suicide attempts requiring medical treatment. I identified the need for a more in-depth analysis of the data with regards to sexual identity, as my observations indicate that LGBTQ+ youth are at a significantly higher risk of suicide attempts than other groups. Ultimately, it is crucial to further explore and address these concerning trends to prevent further harm.
